Two Days in Nashville
We got a quick couple of days in Nashville over spring break. We stayed at the Loews hotel across from Vanderbilt University. In addition to visiting Vanderbilt, we toured downtown Nashville and the Ryman Auditorium, stopped at the historic Union Station Nashville Yard, had tea at the Hermitage, and attended an MLS Nashville SC soccer game.

San Antonio Xmas
We headed south for Christmas this year and booked a room on the River Walk in San Antonio, Texas. We spent 5 days in Texas and had a blast enjoying some warmer weather and a bustling city. Over the week we visited The Alamo along with all the other area Missions, took in the River Walk, visited Six Flags, and visited the Natural Bridge Caverns.

Olympic National Park
For our summer vacation this year, we decided to drive to Olympic National Park and spend a week exploring the Olympic Peninsula. We went all the way the first day and stayed at the Log Cabin Resort on Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park for the first three nights. On the fourth day, we took the ferry from Port Angeles to Victoria, British Columbia, for the day. In Victoria, we had tea at the Empress and revisited Abigail’s Hotel, where we had honeymooned 25 years earlier and enjoyed shopping. For the next three nights, we stayed in the Lake View building at the Lake Quinault Lodge. Here, we took a boat tour of Lake Quinalt and explored the Lake Quinalt Rain Forest and the coast around Kalaloch. Finally, we drove through Mount Ranier on our way home.

An Evening in Helena
We were in Helena for the Montana Cup soccer tournament. The first night, we walked the historic downtown area before heading back to the hotel.

Mother’s Day in Coeur d’Alene
For the second straight year we had Mother’s Day Brunch at the Crimson Hearth in Spokane Valley over the Hot Shots soccer tournament. However, this year we went on Saturday and there was no with.

Whitworth University Campus Visit
We visited Whitworth University in Spokane Washington over Mother’s Day weekend. This was a full day event put on called Whitworth Days. This is a beautiful campus and we really enjoyed our time on campus.

Spring Break in Calgary
We decided to stay close to home this spring break and make the drive to Calgary, Britsh Columbia. Our route took us through Eureka, Fernie, over the Crowsnest Pass and Burmis before turning north on Highway 22 on our way to Calgary. This was a really beautiful drive with lots of scenery, however, most of our photos were taken in Calgary instead of on the drive. We did stop at the Lundbreck Falls to check out some passing trains behind the waterfall. Besides spending a few days in downtown Calgary, we also made a day trip up to Banff. The weather was a littel heavy during this day so our views were limited, however, you can clearly see why this is a world class destination.

A few days in Florida
Jolie and I visited the East Coast of Florida for a few fun-filled days. We first went to Fort Lauderdale and stayed a few nights in the Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood. We toured Downtown Fort Lauderdale, including a stop at Cafe Bastille for one of the best breakfasts we have ever had. This was followed by strolling along the riverfront walk, the historic buildings on Moffat Avenue, and finished with some shopping on Las Olas Boulevard. The final part of our visit to Fort Lauderdale included attending the Tool concert in the Hard Rock Live Theater, a fantastic venue.

Vegas Springbreak

Space Needle
We visited the Space Needle while celebrating Thanksgiving with our the Shaws in Seattle. Such a fun time!

Imperial Beach
We spent a week with family just south of San Diego this summer in Imperial Beach. The water was initially closed for contamination, but eventually opened up. The trip included a short hike to the Tijuana River outlet along a Southern California beach that was surprisingly void of people.
